To deal with vectors and vector borne diseases has never been so in the spotlight than in the last decade. The current distribution and occurrence of vector borne disease such as Zika and Dengue have enormously aroused the global public concern of diseases transmitted by vectors. It is now a good opportunity to show the great value that research and management of vectors means for human society. This SOVE meeting would be the ideal framework to show the progress in knowledge of basic aspects of vector ecology, those aspects that are then so needed by other disciplines such as modelling and risk assessment. 

It would be also the time to show the need for interaction among all counterparts involved in vector borne diseases, such as researchers, public health managers, risk assessors, control agencies, communication managers and many more. We are sure that the Balearic Islands will offer the ideal landscape for that interaction, since from ancient times it has been a privileged land of encounter of different cultures that have left an indelible mark on food, traditions and way of life.

HOW IT WORKS

The Workflow in Detail

1. Online Registration

Register online and submit your own cooperation profile. In your profile yo can state what kind of technology/producto/expertise you are offering, what kind of cooperation you are looking for and which ideas you would like to discuss with potential collaboration partners. All cooperation profiles will be published online and will be for everyone to see. You can change your profile any time. Note: The better the quality of your profile the more meetings requests you will receive. Your business proposal is your business card, therefore spend some minutes to insert a high quality and meaningfull profile.

2. Promotion of published profiles
All published profiles will be extensively promoted by the organisers of this event. Furthermore, all participants of the event will view your cooperation profile. A statistical analysis of 40 matchmaking events showed that high quality profiles are visited about 50 to 150 times BEFORE the event and will still be viewed AFTER the event. 

3. Selection of bilateral meetings
You will be informed by email when you can start booking bilateral meetings. Check which cooperation profiles are most promising. Intelligent search options allow a quick identification of the most suitable participants/cooperation profiles. Within a few minutes you should be able to identify future potential business partners. Once you have found the most promising business partners you can select them for bilateral meetings. A few days before the event you will receive your personal meeting schedule (furthermore you can constantly check your meeting schedule online). This meeting schedule gives information about the time, the number of the table and who you are going to meet. In case you have meetings the organizer needs to be sure that you will attend the event. Therefore please confirm or cancel your participation one you are asked to confirm. Otherwise the event organizer has to inform all your meetings partners that meetings are/could be uncertain. This causes additional work and makes the event less reliable. 

4. At the event
At the registration desk, you will receive an updated version of your meeting schedule including last minute bookings. Your personal meeting schedule list in chronological order for each meetings thenames of your conversation partnersnumber of table for each meetings. Our staff will be at you disposal during the whole matchmaking event.

HOW DOES THE MATCHMAKING WORK?

At a matchmaking event people meet and greet at high speed. Bilateral meetings take usually 20 or 30 minutes, which is usually enough to forge business/research/technological connections. Then the bell rings and the next meeting starts. What are the benefits of participating in the matchmaking event? All participants can present their expertise/projects/technologies online already before the event. The cooperation profiles will be extensively promoted. Participants can get in contact with each other already before the event and know exactly who they will meet at the event. A matchmaking event therefore presents a very efficient and focused way of finding new collaboration partners.

HOW MUCH IS THE BROKERAGE EVENT ACTIVITY?

The brokerage event is a free activity.
